The Wrentham Cultural Council is a local branch of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, members being appointed by the Board of Selectmen. It is responsible for reviewing and awarding grants for cultural program in the Town. These funds are made available to the Town each year by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

If you have an interest in becoming active in promoting the arts and humanities in the Town of Wrentham, the Cultural Council has one open seat to fill.

If you would like to become involved and have some time and energy to contribute, please submit an application to the Board of Selectmen's office, 79 South Street. The "Committee/Commission" application form can be found on-line under the Board of Selectmen's page, under "Forms and Documents". Wrentham Cultural Council Grant

The Wrentham Cultural Council announces it is accepting applications for the FY2011 Grant Cycle with local Guidelines. The Wrentham Cultural Council strives to reflect the diverse population of Wrentham and seeks to provide to and support activities and projects for the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences that are represented in our community. Average grants are modest ($200-$500). We look for benefit to the community and how it will engage Wrentham residents. Local artists are given preference. The quality of the project and evidence to carry through the project will both be looked at closely. Answer all questions clearly and completely. Please refer to Guidelines for application deadline and submission procedures.

Applications are available at the Fiske Public Library and Town Hall, or may be downloaded from the Massachusetts Cultural Council website at http://www.massculturalcouncil.org.

Olympian Molly Sullivan Sliney visits Wrentham Elementary School

Grants

Grants have been awarded by the Wrentham Cultural Council for Fiscal Year 2010. A full listing is available on the local Wrentham Cultural Council site under "Grant Recipients". As specific dates and venues become available they will be posted on the Events Calendar on the Town of Wrentham's home page.

Wrentham Day 2009

The Wrentham Cultural Council, in collaboration with the Wrentham Historical Commission, the Trinity Church, the Original Congregational Church, and The Proctor Mansion, and funded in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, sponsored an Art History Walking Tour: Then and Now. The newly renovated Old Fiske Library hosted a photography, artwork and historic artifacts exhibit. Continuing to the Trinity Church one was introduced by greeters to the ornate stained glass windows, paintings, and historic items, as well as music played on the beautiful pipe organ. The tour of The Original Congregational Church sanctuary was led by volunteers who informed about the history behind the church; also on display were recently restored photographic "Then and Now" collages of Town buildings (now on display at Wrentham Town Hall). The tour culminated at The Proctor Mansion where there was a display of Joseph Cowell paintings of historic Wrentham homes; tours of the Proctor Mansion were provided by the Inn.
