Data Collector - Assistant Town Appraiser/Assessor
The Town of Wrentham (population 11,400) seeks candidates for the position of Data Collector-Assistant Town Appraiser/Assessor. The position works directly under the supervision of the Town Appraiser/Assessor. Primary focus is year round field work inspecting properties and updating current records. Assists the Town Appraiser/Assessor in the preparation of RECAP data, tax commitments, specialized studies as well as the enforcement of state assessment laws. Assumes the responsibilities of the Town Appraiser-Assessor in his/her absence. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, overseeing the Cyclical Inspection program, assisting the Town Appraiser in completing abatement and building permit inspections, processing Form of List returns, providing input into the development of property assessments and participating in the overall daily operation of the office. Position is currently that of Data Collector and will become Assistant Town Appraiser/Assessor on July 1, 2015 or upon meeting position qualifications. (See below.)
**Qualified candidates for the Assistant Appraiser/Assessor position will have completed DOR's Assessing Course 101 and must be able to obtain MAA within three years of hire. Possess 1-2 years of Assessing/Appraising experience, knowledge of assessment practices and procedures, general understanding and knowledge of Mass. General Laws pertaining to assessing, be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, be able to perform property inspections throughout the year and must have a valid driver's license. Experience with PK software a plus but not necessary.
**Lesser qualified applicants willing to work towards meeting the above qualifications will be considered as a Data Collector. Please specify in cover letter.
Data Collector position currently pays $18.00/hr. to $23.00/hr.
Assistant Town Appraiser/Assessor to pay $25.00/hr. to $32.50/hr. (depending on experience).
Both positions are a 35 hour work week with fringe benefits.
